How Much Do Different Types Of Blinds Cost?
In this article, we will explore the costs associated with five popular types of indoor blinds, and the respective cost to install blinds:
- Roller Blinds
- Vertical Blinds
- Dual Roller Blinds
- Venetian Blinds
- Panel Glide Blinds
How Much Does A Roller Blind Cost?
Roller blinds are a classic choice for windows, offering a sleek and modern look and providing effective light control with privacy. They consist of a single piece of fabric or material that rolls up onto a tube, allowing for easy operation. Furthermore, roller blinds can help keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, reducing energy costs and providing insulation.
The price of your roller blind varies depending on the material quality, window or door size, and any motorised features. Most of them are very affordable and can be often installed for under $100 a square metre.
- Basic Roller Blinds: Made from lightweight materials like polyester or cotton, basic roller blinds start from around $70 to $100 per square meter fully installed.
- Premium Roller Blinds: Made from high-quality materials like nylon or blackout fabric, premium roller blinds start from around $90 to $120 per square meter installed.
- Motorised Roller Blinds: Adding a motorised mechanism for effortless operation, motorized roller blinds start from around $150 to $300 per square meter fully fitted.
How Much Do Vertical Blinds Cost
Vertical blinds are a popular choice for large windows and sliding glass doors. They consist of individual slats that hang vertically and can be adjusted for privacy and light control. Furthermore, vertical blinds are low maintenance and easy to clean, with individual slats that can be removed and washed or replaced if damaged.
The cost of vertical blinds varies depending on the material and size. Vertical blinds are priced very similarly to roller blinds, and positioned as one of the more affordable window furnishings.
- Basic Vertical Blinds: Constructed from lightweight materials like PVC or fabric, basic vertical blinds start from around $70 to $100 per square meter.
- Premium Vertical Blinds: Made from high-quality materials like aluminium or wood, premium vertical blinds start from around $90 to $120 per square meter.
- Motorized Vertical Blinds: Automatic motor-operated vertical blinds start from around $150 to $300 per square meter including motor fitting and installation of blinds.
Double Roller Blinds Cost
Dual roller blinds offer the functionality of two blinds in one, with two separate fabrics or materials on the same tube. This allows for multiple light control and privacy options. You can let light in without people seeing inside by lowering the sheer fabrics or completely covering any light by lowering down the block-out fabric.
The cost of dual roller blinds varies depending on the materials and size. You can expect to pay more for a double roller blind because they require twice the amount of material and labour to install. The customisation is often worth the value.
- Basic Dual Roller Blinds: Made from simple fabrics like polyester or cotton, basic dual roller blinds start from around $100 to $150 per square meter supplied and installed.
- Premium Dual Roller Blinds: Made from high-quality materials like sheer and blackout fabric, premium dual roller blinds start from around $120 to $200 per square meter including installation costs.
- Motorized Dual Roller Blinds: Including a motor in your dual roller blinds will cost around $250 to $400 per square meter to manufacture and fit.
Venetian Blinds Cost
Venetian blinds are a type of window blind that consists of horizontal slats, typically made of metal, wood, or faux wood, that are suspended from a headrail and can be adjusted to control the amount of light entering a room.
Important Note: Venetian blinds can be dangerous as the cord is a potential choking hazard for young children. For this reason, FloorVenue does not offer venetian blinds. Hence the pricing below is purely informational and not something we do.
- Basic Venetian Blinds: The most affordable faux wood venetian blinds are slightly more expensive than vertical or roller blinds, setting you back around $80 – $120 per square metre including installation.
- Timber Venetian Blinds: Fancier and tougher materials like real wood (or even aluminium) will cost around $120 – $150 per square metre for custom-manufactured and fitted venetian blinds. Timber venetian blinds offer the timeless look that faux wood cannot imitate.
- Motorised Venetian Blinds: A motorised venetian blind will cost you around $250 – $400 per square metre, depending on the motor type and material construction.
How Much Do Panel Blinds Cost?
Panel blinds (a.k.a panel glides) offer a modern alternative to traditional vertical blinds for large windows, sliding doors, and even room dividers. These fabric panels effortlessly glide on a sleek track, providing excellent light control with blackout, light filtering, and sunscreen options. Easy to operate with a metal wand, Panel Glides offer privacy, insulation, and a touch of elegance, making them a popular choice for both homes and commercial spaces.
Panel glides typically cost between $300 – $600 per window including installation, however they vary depending on the fabric material and the window size.
Additional Costs (Or Cost Savings) to Consider For Blinds
When calculating the total cost of window blinds, consider the following additional costs:
DIY vs Professional Install:
You can save money by going for DIY blinds instead of having them professionally fitted as FloorVenue offers supply only. We will come out to measure and manufacture your windows, and you can pick them -up directly from our warehouse in Blacktown (as of 2024).
Most window blind fitters will charge around $20 – $50 per square metre for installation of standard vertical, roller or venetian blinds, with dual roller blinds on the higher end of the pricing spectrum.
Your savings will be more valuable if there are only a handful of windows because any blinds installer will charge a hefty callout fee just to come out.
On-Site Measurements Fees
Accurate measurements for custom-made blinds always require a professional visit, adding $50 to $100 to the total cost whether or not you proceed with the quote!
Luckily, FloorVenue does not charge for an on-site measure if you are based in Greater Sydney. We offer free inspections and quotes so don’t hesitate to reach out if you are after accurate pricing for your blinds.
Location & Travel Distance
Whilst FloorVenue services all of Greater Sydney, we can also manufacture and fit blinds and shutters for regional suburbs. Regional Sydney jobs will often incur a surcharge on the job, paired with an inspection and measure-up call-out fee.
However, we will often be lower priced than local regional blinds and shutter installers even with the distance fees because FloorVenue’s prices are very competitive. Regional areas tend to charge higher than more populated areas. Don’t believe me? Feel free to reach out for a quick quote!
